Columbus Day has Always Been Her Day

"Good morning sleepy head," I heard as I wake up, seeing Lorraine sitting beside me holding a tray with food. I sit up with a yawn, stretching my arms.
"Good morning early bird," I say smiling at her. She smiles and hands the tray towards me.
"Here, I made you some breakfast" I take the tray and kiss her on the cheek.
"Thanks Hun, any occasion?" I ask.
"No, just, was in a good mood. That's all," she said.
"Mhm, sure."
"Just shut up and eat before I take it back," she says, playfully.
"Okay, okay. I will, I will," I said, then starting to eat.
"While you eat, I'm gonna shower. And don't try coming in like last time, kay? I actually want to wash my hair and get clean today. Call me crazy for wanting to be clean like most people," she said walking towards the door.
"Awww, fine. I guess I'll take my time eating, and keep you your privacy. Only cause I love you."
"I love you too Jed, even though you're an ass at times."
"That just makes you love me more."
"Of course, keep telling yourself that," she said laughing as she walked out. I finished eating the toast, muffin and pancakes she made me. I turned on the TV and put on the news. When they said today's date, I realized why she was in such a good mood. Columbus Day. A few years ago, when we first started dating, I took her on a date on Columbus Day. We spent the whole day together. I picked her up from her house at about 11 A.M.
She came out, putting her hair in a pony tail, freaking out because she "didn't look pretty" which wasn't true at all. I made her keep her dirty-blonde hair (the color dirty blonde, not blonde hair that was dirty) down, which came down to her shoulders. She wore a V-cut T-shirt that was white, pink, and blue, with a jean skirt that went a little above her knees. She wore leggins that were pink, matching her shirt, and wore her Converse. Even in casual clothes, she looked stunning. I took her to the beach, we walked around, then I took her to the park, we had a picnic. After that, we went to a movie, and we cuddled the whole time. Once the movie was over, I took her to this new resturaunt that had just opened up. It was set up as a 50's diner, and I knew Lorriane would love it, which she did. The dinner was amazing, like the whole day. It was the best date either of us have ever had.

By the time I finshed reminiscing that amazing day, Lorraine made her way back from the shower and into our bedroom, dressed only in a bathrobe. I quickly got back to reality, and got up and kissed her.
"Get ready, we're going out today," I said, heading towards the door.
"We are? What are we doing? And where are you going?" she asked confused.
"You'll see, and I'm going to get ready as well. I have to shave and stuff. Just get ready, okay?" I said, walking back over to her kissing her on the head. She smiled and walked into the closet, listening to my request. I walked into the bathroom, shaved, did my hair, then went to the laundry room. I got clothes from the dryer that looked a little more your usual casual wear. After getting dressed and fixing my hair, I walked into the room to find Lorriane finishing up her make up. She put down the mascarra, and grabbed her purse from the bes as she walked up to me.
"Ready?" I asked.
"Yeah, even though I have no idea where we're going, and if I look okay for where ever it is we are going," she said as we walked.
"You look beautiful, like always Lorriane, don't worry," I said taking her hand as we walked out the door and to the car. I opened the car door for her and shut it as she got in. I got into the drivers side, and started driving. I took the backroads to that resturaunt, so she wouldn't suspect anything. I parked about a block down, and got out.
"Jed, where are we?" she asked confused.
"You'll see, just follow me." She listend and followed me as we walked. As we got closer to the diner, she got a smile on her face.
When we got there, I opened the door for her, and we got a seat. Omce we finished our diner plate, we got dessert, but right before, I made her love Columbus Day even more.
I kneeled down infront of her, took her hand with one of mine, and with my other hand, I took out a ring that I've been saving for the right time.
"Lorriane, this is where we had one of our first dates, and the best dates ever. This, is where I realized I loved you. And this, is where I'm asking you to marry me, all you need to do is say yes." Tears came from her gorgeous green eyes, and she took the ring and places it on her finger, and said yes.
